Replacement of the Pavilion on St. Pancras Green
A working party, consisting of several sports groups in the village, has been set up to formulate a plan for the replacement
of the present pavilion which is at the end of its life . The group has had two meetings so far. John Hartridge, a retired
architect and former Kingston resident, has drawn up a set of draft plans and these are under consideration. The group has
listed the following requirements for the new pavilion:
- A club room which could be used by village groups, not only those associated with the sports clubs
- Improved kitchen facilities
- Changing facilities ( two sets which can be used for home and away teams and for separate sexes)
- Shower and toilet facilities
- Access for the disabled
- Improved storage with access both from inside and outside the pavilion
- An external veranda
The new pavilion would be on the site of the existing one. Although the floor area would be larger than the present one,
it would not be necessary to retain the storage hut at the side of the present pavilion because of the provision of storage
in the new design.
The committee is looking into sources of possible grants and the possibility of buying a prefabricated design which could
be cheaper than building a purpose built pavilion.
