Arable Land by the Ridge
A piece of arable farmland situated on The Ridge which consists of 53 acres has been purchased by a consortium of local people.
However, they are still short of the amount required. They are seeking shareholders investing from £1,000 up to £6,000
towards the field (most have contributed £5,000).
The plan is to save the field from negative development and keep it
as a conservation project, initially carrying on its use as grazing, whilst researching grants for wild life, hedging and
pursuing a high level stewardship award as the field abuts a site of special scientific interest. The sale is to proceed
but the loans taken out (interest free) have to be met within one year or part of the land will be sold to raise the
difference. This should not be allowed to happen and if supporters came forward we will have a wonderful open space
safeguarded for the future.
