Barbara Willard (1909 - 1994) was a local children's author who was born in Brighton. For a while she lived in Kingston and recently Turner Waddell sent Hazel Craven a photograph (see below) of Barbara, Frances Howell (also known as Nobby) and himself.

This photograph is of Barbara Willard outside Quince Cottage (next to the Village Hall) in 1947. The picture shows Frances "Nobby" Howell seated on the step, Barbara Willard in the middle and a boy called Turner Waddell.

Turner Waddell kindly sent this letter with the photograph enclosed, to Hazel Craven for inclusion on the village website.
